Ifeanyi Ubah derailed in Egypt

It was bad night for Nigerian Fed Cup champs Ifeanyi Ubah in Egypt, as they were expelled from the Caf Confederation Cup by Al-Masry SC. From the opening whistle the hosts piled on the pressure on the west Africans seeking to overturn the 1-0 advantage they had secured with their home win in Nnewi. In the first ten minutes alone goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa produced two fine saves to deny both Ahmed Gomaa and Shokri in the sixth and ninth minutes respectively.
Shokri however was not be prevented again and in the 25th minute he sent that Egyptians ahead making the aggregate score 1-1. Earlier Wilson Elu had been controversially judged to have handled the ball in the 18, and Shokri hit the ball past Ezenwa, taking full advantage of the awarded penalty.
This is where we remained at full time, prompting the much dreaded penalty shoot out.
During that phase of the game the Anambra Warriors failed to convert any of their three spot kicks, while in return the hosts calmly slotted in all of theirs. Meanwhile the Nigerians repeatedly complained vehemently about the use of countless lasers on their goal keeper in order to obscure his vision.
IFUB FC will now return to Nigeria to focus fully on defending their Fed Cup and hopefully secure their first NPFL crown.
