Japanese Real slayer joins Tenerife
"Shibasaki will be a Tenerife player until June 30, 2017, once the bureaucratic procedures have been completed and the player passes a medical," Tenerife, who sit sixth in Spain's second tier, confirmed in a statement on Tuesday.
Shibasaki nearly caused the biggest shock in the history of the Club World Cup as his double put Japanese champions Kashima Antlers 2-1 up on Madrid only for the European champions to fight back thanks to a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick to take the title 4-2 after extra-time.
Capped 13 times at international level, Shibasaki, 24, will be aiming to help Tenerife back to the top flight for the first time in eight seasons as they lie in the final playoff place, eight points off automatic promotion, in the Segunda Division.
